So you have arrived at and you are wondering just who the hell I am.  Well, I’ll tell you a little about myself.

How I Got Into the Internet Marketing Game

First, since the blog is about business, we’ll talk business.  I got into internet marketing right after college.  I was working a commission only sales job and needed a secondary source of income until my sales business increased.  I started searching online and found a course on selling on eBay.  The rest is a long drawn out story that I will try to condense.

Selling on eBay and Dropshipping Products

I went from selling on eBay to running a pretty successful online furniture shop.  I ran the site off the Yahoo Merchant platform.  I sold really high end teak outdoor furniture and had a pretty focused target audience.  The products were dropshipped straight to the consumer.  The problem I ran into was that when sales started to pick up, I couldn’t keep up and continue my ‘real’ job of sales.  Something had to go, and I didn’t yet have the faith in the longevity of online business, so I closed the site.

Adsense, Pandas and Penguins

Eventually, I ended up quitting the sales job and remembering the success of my first online endeavor I decided to get back in that game.  I got back into selling and dropshipping products, and though I was doing OK I wanted to do more than OK.  Much more.  So I ended up building some Adsense sites, which saw some really great months, all before the Google Pandas and Penguins wreaked havoc on my sites.

Kindle eBooks

Feeling like my bubble burst, I headed over to try my hand at Kindle books, which I did quite well with, and am still seeing success with.  However, again I’m not seeing the ‘job-ending’ wealth that I desire.  I am after that with a passion, and I won’t stop until I get it.

Still Hungry for Growth

I stumbled upon a well known IM guy, that I will mention in a blog post at some point (I have since written that post, My Mentor – Alex Jeffreys), and listened to a few of his seminars.  Something clicked, I had an epiphany, and then I had another and another.  It was like the dots connected and I saw what I needed to do and with fire in my veins I have set out to do it.

The years that I have spent learning and researching every facet of online marketing bring me to this very moment.  The moment where I realize that I don’t have to be a millionaire to help those who are starting out.  Hell, even to help those who have been in this game for a while and who have not achieved the success that they desire.

I put a quote by Napoleon Hill on my home page, and it is short and sweet but it spells out my entire mission for this blog in just one sentence.  “It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others succeed.

My Goal for This Blog

To teach what I know about online marketing, and to lead a group of like-minded people toward their goals.  I am so excited about how far we can push each other toward success!

I have been a part of groups in the past where the main coach or leader is frequently absent.  People feel left in the dust. They feel abandoned by this person who said they would help them achieve their goals. I have seen this happen over and over.

I’m In This Too!

I’m saying this group will not be like that.  I will be here helping you push forward.  I’m in this too!  I have not yet achieved the success that I want to achieve.  I am as passionate about getting there as you are!  So, we are in it together.

Enough About Business

All of the above information lets you know my business background, but I’d like to speak a little bit about who I am, because business is not who I am.  I just turned 35, which upon blowing out my candles, rather than make a wish I thought to myself, “Time is running out, you had better make something of yourself!

In my day job, I am a Quality Analyst for a Fortune 500 company.  I spend my days on process improvement projects, writing technical documents and reports, and analyzing key metrics.

I am a real smartass sometimes, as I mention in my meta title.  It’s true, I can’t get around it.  You will see it in some of my posts, but for the most part I will try to remain professional.  You can’t be serious all the time, right?

To Sum It Up

If you have read this far, wow, thank you!  I think one of the things that will be unique about this blog is my transparency.  I have nothing to hide, and I genuinely want to see you succeed.  I’m a total believer in the Law of Attraction (which is a whole topic on it’s own) and I believe that you get what you give.  I think if you only read that last part, then that’s really all you need to know about me and my intentions.

    Find it hard to believe you closed a drop shipping business because sales picked up and you were too busy with your real job. That couldn’t be the truth.

      I’m glad you brought this up. As I read back through that part, I can see where you could come to that conclusion :)

      Here’s the deal. When you are having to float product purchases in the thousands of dollars – as a ‘middle man’ – AND your income is coming from a commission only sales job where you are not earning enough to float that expense it can quickly catch up with you.

      I didn’t have the buying power from either savings or credit to float thousands of dollars to secure the furniture between the number of days the customer purchased the items and when the dollars from their credit cards cleared and were in my bank account. If I had waited until their money was in my account to purchase the products it would have put an additional 3-7 days into my turn time cycle (the time from order to them receiving the product). I couldn’t be competitive with that. People want their items sooner, not later.

      So, it was more of an issue of being able to fund the business. Now, could I have gone into a lot of debt to do it? Maybe. But that is what I meant by being too busy with my day job. I didn’t have the time to figure out how to resolve this funding issue until I made enough profit to be able to float the purchases myself. And in the mean time, purchases were coming in that I couldn’t afford. I had to get my parents to help with one big transaction and I made it my last. I realized that I wasn’t fully prepared to be in that type of business, at least at those price points.

      Even though you came to my blog and essentially called me a liar, I would like to thank you for allowing me to elaborate on something that may sound off or confusing.

        NOW you’re talking. This has always been one of the biggest challenges for start ups – Cash flow. Not sure if you looked into cash management solutions with your local bank such as loans against purchase orders. This is now most cash flow challenged start ups can gain some breathing room. It’s the same as the loan from your parents, only with interest for the period of time you had the $$ :)
        As soon as you receive an order, they release funds. Common.

        Good luck! The lesson you learned will prove to be invaluable as you try again.

          I did learn a lot from it. It was 10 years ago!

          Thanks for the comments ‘Skeptic’, as I myself am quite the skeptic and I can appreciate questioning things. ESPECIALLY in the IM business.

      I am still doing IM. Not a millionaire…yet! I am actually working on creating a product that I am very proud of. I am planning for it to be done and ready to launch by November. Are you on my subscriber list, Kin? I am about to start a series of emails explaining where I am in my business, and what is to come. I will be posting to the blog some, but not like I did in the 90 Day Challenge. I’ll be saving my best stuff for my subscribers ;)
