Day 20 – 90 Day Blog Challenge – Traffic Sources

I seem to have come to a plateau in my traffic and opt-ins.  They were climbing at a faster rate for the first 16 or so days, and in the last 4 I have continued to get unique visitors and double opt-ins, but the rate at which I am getting them is not increasing.  So, I have to do even more to increase my presence.

I decided to break down where my traffic was coming from so I could see what was working and what wasn’t, so I would know where to concentrate my efforts.  Here is what I found:

Interesting Top Source

I found it interesting that my biggest source of traffic is the emails from ListJoe.com.  I will continue to use this service for a while until I see a reason not to.  One thing that I see is that I need to do way more blog commenting and engaging in blog dialogue.  That number should be higher.  If there are successful bloggers out there speaking to my target audience, the perfect way to bring them over is to be present on those blogs.  Commenting on blogs can show the very people I want to reach who I am and what I am about.  If they are interested, they will click over.  If they find something of value with my site, then it’s a win for both of us.

Still on the Agenda

Still needing to get a guest post up somewhere visible, and also work on Facebook ads.  Right now I am making sure that I am getting the most out of the methods that I have used so far.  I don’t want to just jump around without really looking into my results and seeing if I can make improvements of changes that will render a better result.

Since I know that I need to give more attention to blog commenting, I am going to spend some time on that and see how much I can increase my traffic.  I am keeping in mind that traffic for me is not about numbers, but about quality.

Are you surprised by the sources and corresponding percentages?

Hi Stacy, I’ve noticed that with new sites you get some quick attention from search engines because you are new (?) and then if you can’t get lots of traffic pretty fast, the search engines lose interest in your site. Now the hard work begins. I’m sure you have noticed this with your other sites? Or maybe not : )

Not surprised by your stats above. Does sound like you have your emails just right, and that is a good company you are using. Thanks, Julia

      Julia,

I have noticed that with sites in the past, but for those sites I had really focused on keywords, and writing articles and building links based on them. With this site, I didn’t do that. I have had virtually no search engine traffic thus far. I will eventually work on that, but I’m not quite there yet.

I’ll keep working and sharing results :)

      Thanks for stopping by!

      Stacy
